youth discovering meaning through narrative film

In the summer of 2020, seven Lasallian high school students from across the country created films reflecting on their experiences inside the covid-19 pandemic.

their thoughts. their feelings. their words.

“Touching… Authentic… Wise. Each of these videos offers a glimpse of hope and a lesson to get through uncertainty.”

Tony Behan, teacher at De La Salle New Orleans

“These films are all about the teenage experience. We all lived through shelter-in-place differently and we all made use of the resources we had available to produce these videos. We took advantage of what we could control, and I like seeing how everyone adapted and overcame their circumstances.”

Mariana, student filmmaker at Christian Brothers Sacramento ‘21

“I was able to relate to all of the films, which really showed me that I’m not alone in my experience.”

Katie, student at Justin-Siena Napa ‘22

“At school, I was more quiet and not very open with my feelings. With filmmaking, I can get more personal and really express what I want to share.”

Briana, student filmmaker at La Salle Pasadena ‘20
